Apparently, I'm not the only one who likes the gardenia plants beside my front porch.

Clothesline Therapy
There is something about the simple act of hanging clothes out to dry that lifts my spirits.
~stepping out into the quiet morning~
~the sun on my shoulders~
~the sounds of the birds and bugs in the trees~
~keeping an eye on the woods, hoping to see a deer wander by~
~a grateful heart for where I get to live~
And maybe, the best of all, sleeping in sheets that have been soaked in sunshine.
My idea of luxury

It's the little things
I love this mug.
My friend, Kelly, gave it to me for my birthday. It is just the right amount of girly. It has flowers and butterflies (but no unicorns or glitter). I love the graceful shape of it.
I love the little pink flower on the inside.
I especially love sitting on the front porch with my dog on a cool summer morning~enjoying the bird songs and sipping coffee from a cup that makes me smile.

McGill Rose Garden
The first time I went to the McGill Rose Garden in Charlotte, as we parked I thought that surely we were in the wrong place. There was not a rose in sight. But as I stepped out of the car, the scent of roses wafted over gravel, through chain link and across the railroad tracks to let us know that we had arrived.
The land sits on an old coal yard. It has been lovingly transformed over decades. You can read all about it here.
It's one of my favorite places in Charlotte.
